Line Sorter
Paste a list. Get it sorted, deduped and numbered — live, in this tab.
One item per line. The order updates as you type, and nothing leaves this tab.
01 Capability
What it does
Small details that make the job quicker.
- Sorts A→Z or Z→A while you type, with case-insensitive order on by default.
- Removes duplicate lines and keeps the first spelling it saw, so the list stays predictable.
- Numeric sort puts 2 before 10, and parks non-numeric lines at the end with a plain explanation.
- Trim spaces, drop empty lines and number the output — each one is a single toggle.
- Live counts show lines in and out, then name any duplicates removed, empty lines dropped or ends trimmed.
- Large pastes stay local; the preview caps at 2,000 lines while Copy keeps the whole result.
02 Questions
Questions
Short answers, no small print.
Does it sort numbers the way I expect?
Yes, when Numeric sort is on. Lines are compared as numbers, so 2 comes before 10 and -5 comes before 0. With numeric sort off, 10 comes before 2 because the lines are compared as text.
What does Ignore case change?
It treats A and a as the same letter when sorting and when removing duplicates. The surviving line keeps the spelling of the first copy in your list; the letters are never rewritten.
Which duplicate survives?
The first one in the order you pasted. If you need the last copy instead, reverse the list before sorting or delete the earlier line by hand.
Why are some lines at the end in numeric sort?
They are not numbers — a filename, a heading or a word. Sorting them as zero would be a lie, so they stay after the numbers, in alphabetical order, and the tool tells you how many there are.
Does it change the words inside a line?
No. Trim only removes spaces and tabs at the start and end. Number lines adds a prefix such as 1. and leaves the line itself alone. Every other character is copied exactly.
Is my list uploaded or stored?
No. Sorting runs in this browser tab. The text is never sent to Astra, logged or saved after you close the page.
