Merge PDF
Drop your PDFs, set the order, and download one merged file — nothing is uploaded.
Add two or more PDFs on the left. Put them in the order you want, and Astra joins every page into one download — the documents never leave this tab.
01 Capability
What it does
Small details that make the job quicker.
- Joins any number of PDFs up to 20 files and 80 MB, preserving every page in the order you set — no page is silently dropped.
- Reads the real page count of each file before merging, so the total in the result panel matches the PDF you download.
- Reorders with plain up and down buttons and removes a file in one click; the merged copy is rebuilt immediately, with no separate merge step to forget.
- Detects password-protected PDFs and explains the problem instead of producing a broken file, and names any damaged file that cannot be opened.
- Keeps every document in the tab: files are parsed with a bundled PDF library, never uploaded, and the merged copy disappears when the tab closes.
02 Questions
Questions
Short answers, no small print.
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. Each file is read with pdf-lib, a PDF library bundled into this page, and the merged document is assembled in memory in this tab. There is no upload endpoint, no storage bucket and no analytics event carrying the file. Closing the tab discards everything.
Can I choose the page order inside a PDF?
This tool orders whole documents, not individual pages. Put the files in the sequence you want and every page inside each file keeps its original order. To move a single page, split that PDF in a PDF editor first, then merge the pieces here.
Why does it say my PDF is password-protected?
An encrypted PDF needs its password before any page can be read. Astra does not ask for or store passwords. Open the file in your PDF app, save an unlocked copy, and add that copy instead.
What happens to links, forms and bookmarks?
Pages carry over as they are, including their visible content, links and form fields. Document-level extras such as bookmarks, attachments and the original outline are not rebuilt into the new file, so a heavily bookmarked manual may lose its sidebar map.
Is there a file or page limit?
Up to 20 PDFs and 80 MB in total, and every page counts toward what the browser can hold in memory. That ceiling keeps the tab responsive on a phone. For a very large archive, merge it in two smaller batches and then join the two results.
Does merging reduce quality?
No. Astra copies the existing pages into a new document; it does not re-render, compress or resample them. Text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution. The output size is close to the sum of the inputs.
