Timestamp Converter
Paste a timestamp or a date. See every readable form at once.
A bare number is a Unix timestamp. A date needs a dash, a slash or a month name.
Try Unix seconds, Unix milliseconds, or an ISO date. Every readable form appears at once, with nothing sent anywhere.
01 Capability
What it does
Small details that make the job quicker.
- Reads Unix seconds, Unix milliseconds and date strings in one field, and names the format it detected.
- Shows ISO 8601, UTC, local time, relative time and both raw timestamp units at once, with no Run button.
- A live Unix clock with a one-click Use now, ticking in this tab.
- Copy any single row, or copy all six as labelled lines for a ticket or a fixture.
- Rejects impossible dates such as 30 February, and explains an out-of-range value instead of showing a wrong date.
- Everything runs locally with the browser's Date and Intl APIs — no request, no account, no stored value.

Short answers, no small print.
How do I turn a Unix timestamp into a date?
Paste the number into the field. A 10-digit value is read as Unix seconds, so 1700000000 becomes 14 November 2023 at 22:13:20 UTC. A 13-digit value is read as milliseconds. The ISO 8601, UTC, local and relative rows all update as you type.
Why does my 13-digit timestamp show a date in January 1970?
It is being read as seconds. 1700000000000 seconds lands in the year 55839, so the tool refuses it and asks you to switch. Choose Milliseconds, or leave the unit on Auto and the digit count will make the decision for you.
Can I convert a date back into a timestamp?
Yes. Paste an ISO 8601 value such as 2023-11-14T22:13:20Z, a plain date such as 2023-11-14, or a readable date such as November 14, 2023. The Unix seconds and milliseconds rows give you the number back. A date without an offset is read in your device's time zone.
Are the rows in UTC or my local time?
Both are shown, and they are labelled. The ISO 8601 row is always UTC with a trailing Z. The UTC row spells it out in words. The Local time row uses this device's time zone, and its note names that zone. You can compare the two before copying.
How is relative time calculated?
The relative row compares the date with the live Now clock in the panel, using whole seconds, minutes, hours, days, months or years. It is a reading aid, not a precise duration: 30 days can read as 1 month. It never calls a server and it updates once a second.
Is my timestamp or date sent anywhere?
No. Parsing and formatting happen in this tab with the browser's own Date and Intl objects. Astra does not upload, log or store the value, and nothing survives closing the page.
